I’ve spent so much time trying to give people the lovely visions they bring to me, to understand what they really want, even if they don’t know it themselves, and to design for their personal needs, desires and uses.

It’s so exciting when people really appreciate all the value that is built into their poolscape. I love it when they see the final product and get emotional because it’s more exquisite than they had hoped for.

For me, swimming pools are like good friends. They have different personalities; they’re always there to entertain you; they nurture you when you’re sad or tense; and they provide a soft place to land in times of stress. In your swimming pool, you can relax and just be who you are. Their purpose is to make you feel good, and they do it so well.

Each project is like a child to me. I design it, build it, and love it, and when I’m done, I present it to the world and know that it represents me well. Now, GAVA has acknowledged one of my children. It’s great to be recognized for what I love to do. This is another milestone in my career, and I couldn’t be happier.

Years before the “What the Bleep” movie touted Dr. Masuru Emoto’s research on the effects of thought on water, and even before he began his research, natural healers promoted the benefits of immersing yourself in water, increasing water intake, and repeating healing mantras or positive affirmations to rebalance your body.

While soaking in a hot spring, a Texas woman named Ann Johnson was inspired to create vials of water and meditate on them to infuse them with healing properties. She met Dr. Emoto at a conference, and asked him to test her waters before and after programming. This became part of his research that led him to his current fame. And, it demonstrated that her programming did indeed change the crystallization patterns in the waters she charged.

Now we know that you can create your own life-changing water experience by labeling your water with positive words like love, joy, beauty, wisdom, abundance or whatever you choose.

What does this have to do with swimming pools?

Even the stones and the crystals in the construction materials are infused with positive energy. That, in turn, infuses the water with those same qualities, which is in keeping with the research Dr. Emoto has been conducting.

Throughout every culture, soaking in hot springs is considered a healing practice. The Native Americans of New Mexico declared hot springs as sacred, and all fighting among tribes was forbidden in the vicinity of the hot springs. Were they maintaining a positive space for the waters to continue their healing effects? Many treaties were negotiated among tribal leaders while sharing space in the local waters. Was that just a coincidence? Many contracts in modern America have been signed in a relaxed poolside atmosphere.

Also, spending time in your pool allows your skin to soak up more water and effectively hydrate. But, because most pools use chlorine to kill bacteria, the effects may not be as beneficial as you would like. At DownUnda Pools, we recommend an ionization system that is better for the environment and better for your body. If you already have a chlorine based system, you might want to consider changing that for your better health.
